Fragile Touch

Life is fragile like a flower

Fragile touch is a 3D model piece created using air dry clay, fabric, string and gold coloured wire. It started off as a simple hand model, but over time as I witnessed the clay begin to crack and break, I was inspired to remodel it as a piece on frangibility. There is string tied loosely around the hand, fabric placed in a patch like pattern, and a flower balanced on top of the fingers, which evokes the imagery that it has just been plucked off. I chose to represent the theme of frangibility with a flower as it is a delicate plant which can easily be broken off using only one hand.
